On the 08/04/2018 at Kabwata Parish Lusaka, 9 Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa from different African countries
together with the family members, the Missionaries of Africa and the diocesan priests joined the joyful procession with songs and dances, to accompany our sisters Linah Siabana and Vickness Muleya. During the Eucharistic celebration led by the Archbishop of Lusaka, Bishop Mpundu, the two sisters pronounced their final vows.
In his homily the Bishop expressed his heartfelt concern about missionary vocations. He emphasised the need for missionaries and encouraged the whole community to continue to nurture and support missionary vocations.
During the celebration, some traditional dances were performed to accompany our sisters to the altar. As a sign of maturity and readiness to face the mission, trusting in God, the women smeared the sisters’ foreheads with flour.
Sr. Florence Mwamba, the canonical leader of our entity, prepared the celebration of this final commitment of our sisters and received their vows, representing our Superior General. During this ceremony the sisters received their ring as a sign of their total self- giving to the Lord and their promise to continue Jesus’ mission here on earth.
This inspiring celebration was followed by a festive dinner highlighted by the cutting of a beautiful cake which was done by the two Sisters and the guest of honour Bishop Mpundu. Numerous gifts were offered to our sisters by the family members, friends, parishioners and well-wishers. Songs and prayers of thanksgiving ended this unforgettable day.
May the Lord continue to be their companion and lead and guide them on their future missionary journey.
